Potty training

Early potty training in vogue for some US parents

I certainly agree about the harmful effects on the environment, but don’t see much of an option living in a country with carpets everywhere and two working parents.

Raksha Bandhan

Yesterday was Raksha Bandhan. I wore a red kurta. We went to Manthu’s place. Nikhil and Neha were waiting for me. They were also wearing Indian dress. Maave had made delicious food and Ash Gourd Halwa.

Rakhi ceremony was simple. Neha held a thali with a diya, rakhi and sweet. I thought this is like blowing birthday candle and I blew the flame out. There was some confusion and diya was lighted again. It was Nikkianna’s turn first. Then Neha applied a tilak on my forhead. Then she tied a rakhi on my wrist and fed me sweet. I gave her a small gift. Then we posed for a picture.

After dinner, I was being very mischievous. Then Manthu asked me to be quiet. In the true spirit of Raksha Bandhan, Neha came for my protection and said “Don’t bother him, he is my cousin”. We have become better friends now.

Happy Hollow

Last weekend my mom and dad took me to the Happy Hollow Park in San Jose. I had a wonderful time in the zoo. I saw Lemur, Jaguar and Tortoise. I also petted goats. Then we went to rides area. I sat on merry-go-round and on my favorite Alligator. I also did Peek-a-boo to my mom from the top of this big shoe house. I had lot of fun and I am hoping to go there again.

Lost in Great Mall!

Today I overheard mom talking to “Mamama” (granny). She was telling that she doesn’t need to worry about me much when we go out. I always stay close to her. Well mom, that is not going to be true anymore.

We went to Great Mall in Milpitas for shopping. I was pretty excited because I like this mall. It has a carousel, arcade, toy train, etc. We were walking in the mall when my dad stepped into a salon at a corner to buy shampoos. My mom and I were waiting outside. I started watching a woman getting haircut. That was very interesting. I guess my mom was uncomfortable standing along with me, so she moved ahead and kept calling me. I didn’t hear her. When I turned I couldn’t find her. I turned around and ran looking for her. Maybe she went back to food court. Maybe they are in Burlington Coat Factory. I kept going and I couldn’t find them. Well, here I was a lost kid in this great mall. I started crying. An Indian couple found me and consoled me. I guess they informed the security guards. In about 10 minutes, my parents came. Phew, I was very relieved. So was my parents. On our way back, I heard my mom saying that she need to use that leash she bought from Babies 'r us. Good luck with that mom!

To Infinity and Beyond….

Few months back my neighbours James and Jane got a Buzz Light Year toy for me from disneyland. I didn’t play with that toy much because I didn't know who Buzz was. Couple of months passed away with my new Buzz toy just lying around. Then one day my mom got Toy Story 2 DVD from a friend. I watched for the first time Buzz Light Year in action. Since then I got hooked onto Buzz Light Year. I watched that movie like 50-60 times and still wanted more. I would wake up in the middle of night, shouting “Buzz” and “downstairs”. (This means take me downstairs, I want to watch Toy story). I would throw big tantrums if my mom did not put “Buzz” movie. She would try to make me watch “Wiggles” or take me out to park, but I loved Buzz and I just want to watch the same movie all the time. Then we went to Reno for couple of days. Since we came back my mom hasn't put “Buzz” movie. I do miss it but I also realized I am missing all the fun in the park. Now I go to park everyday with my mom.

My first tooth

Hey! The tooth fairy seems to have blessed me with my first tooth, to make my gummy smile have some teeth. But I'm not ready to show it to the rest of the world just yet. Photography prohibited.
