Times of India
I always thought Times of India was a respected newspaper. But having been a regular reader of the website for a while now, I think there are some monkeys who’re running the site.
Take for example the 3 pop ups that hit you as soon as you visit the site or reports such as this headline that immediately accept the hypothesis that the guy who was shot dead was a terrorist (although the body adds the “suspected” adjective later).
And then there is the semi-porno stuff that is usually accessible by clicking on the front page.

It was a good newspaper. But I lost faith in it longtime back.
About the semi porno stuff, Most sites does that but they are leading the band in India among the so called “respected” newspapers.. Also they are trying hard to push alternative lifestyles in India. I just saw one of their ads in TV a few days back. It depicts bondage and related “kinky” stuff as cartoons. Also their are very big billboard in Cochin and all that is in the screen are wine glasses and a caption that ” The city as it happens pubs, Discotheques and lounge bars” and NOTHING else. I was amazed t the the size of their billboards with high quality screen printing and lighted with high voltage bulbs at nights and find just that sentence and wine glasses and “Times of India” with logo. I really think their marketting is taken up my real nuts! or may be they want to respond to the sign of the times and stay ahead with the so called “high style” stuipdity because they fear being stamped as no “morden”

Well a common joke is that they’re referred to as Toilet paper Of India.

I was a subscriber of TOI from 94-98. I never felt it’s a good newspaper. Instead I always felt it’s a cheap one. The problem is about choice, in our country we were never given much choices, that’s because we do not have a true mature democracy. That’s how we always fancy with Cricket, Bollywood, IIT, IIM, …., in N India, TOI etc… a single item in each category. And in INC party, one family is the choice, even now in 21st century.
I hope that things are changing, perhaps in future more and more North Indians will be able to have a complete breakfast without TOI(Trash Of India).

shopping.indiatimes.com claims to be VeriSign secured, but they don’t publish proper verification seal on their site (they have a copied miniature image of the VeriSign seal). Also, the funny thing is that during payment the page itself is encrypted but the credit card details goes as clear text! And contrary to what indiatimes claims, the card information goes to them rather than the bank.
Alas, in India everything goes
